A spectacular build designed by world-renowned architectural firm BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), rooms and suites furnished with designs from HAY and private balconies with breath-taking views of the North Sea - that is the framework for the new hotel, which will be part of Esbjerg's new architectural landmark, A Place To, in October 2021.
A Place To in Esbjerg is an innovative, co-living concept with a total of 314 rental apartments divided between three iconic A Place To buildings. With a location close to Esbjerg’s city center and the many educational institutions and sports facilities the city has to offer, the concept is targeted at a younger segment, with the first tenants moving in February 1st 2021. The hotel will be a natural expansion of the co-living concept that is A Place To, and enables short term stays to be a part of A Place To’s offerings.
The hotel will be located on the top 9 floors of the tallest of the three builds coming in at 66 meters and a total of 17 floors. The hotel will offer 117 fully serviced rooms and suites - all with a private balcony and kitchenette.
An inclusive hotel experience
At the head of the hotel is Bo Hjorth Paarup who looks forward to welcoming hotel guests inside the unique and vibrant surroundings:
"The hotel will be part of A Place To's universe and will therefore be a different hotel experience. The place will be unique and vibrant due to the many young tenants and will also be a very inclusive experience due to the fact that guests can enjoy many of the same attractive facilities and common areas available to the tenants living at A Place To. The door is open to everyone; business travellers, families or the couple who wants a cozy getaway. With the hotel's central location by forest, the North Sea and a short drive to the center of Esbjerg, the hotel is an obvious choice for guests looking to experience all that Esbjerg and the surrounding area has to offer”, says Bo Hjorth Paarup.
Experienced General Manager
Bo Hjorth Paarup is highly experienced in the hotel industry, among other things he has worked for Scandic Hotels and was also a part of AC Hotel Bella Sky Copenhagen from the very beginning. He elaborates: “I have previously been a part of the interior design process of a hotel in an architect-designed building with a lot of skewed angles, and I have experience in how to make it work with all the things that need to be thought into it. The hotel rooms will be larger than traditional hotel rooms and all rooms and suites have their own kitchenette, so they are perfect if you plan to stay at the hotel for a longer period”.
Homely feel and affordable restaurant
Behind the interior design of the hotel is the Danish brand HAY, who have worked closely with the architects from BIG to create functional and aesthetic solutions that make guests feel at home at A Place To. HAY has also supplied furniture for the rental apartments at A Place To as well as the shared common areas.
On the top floor of the tower (17), hotel guests will be able to enjoy life in a sky bar and restaurant run by the couple Marie and Michael Rønnebæk-Rørth, known from the restaurants Silo and Hummer in Copenhagen. The restaurant at A Place To will be an informal concept with food made from seasonal ingredients. It will also be possible to enjoy the comparable view of the North Sea and Esbjerg with a nice cocktail.
